Engadget has just received pictures of the Playstation Phone from a trusted source. As they had previously reported back in August, the proposed device is set to launch soon, possibly in the 1st quarter of 2011, with a custom UI (either SE Timescape or a custom Playstation Skin) running on top of Google Android 3.0, “Gingerbread” which we have reported will be released soon, due to a giant cookie which has arrived to the Googleplex. It will, supposedly, also come with a custom Sony Marketplace with which you can buy and download games designed for the new platform, alongside the standard Android Marketplace. The device has a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 chip set, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is between 3.7″ and 4.1″. The device has a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and replaces the joystick on the current model. There is also MicroSD support and the device has the standard shoulder buttons (L and R) along with a camera button. Below the action buttons appears to be the start and select buttons and below the directional pad seems to be a menu button, a standard for android phones. The device has the standard android buttons across the bottom of the screen (in portrait view), back, menu, home, and search. As Engadget notes, this model is still largely in the prototype stage and is said to be pretty buggy.

Update: The device also appears to have a front facing camera.
